What does actress Jennifer Lawrence and an APNK customer have in common?

Answer: They're both using Skype for job interviews.

Just before Christmas we received some feedback from an APNK user at Richmond Library in the Tasman District who wanted to pass on how useful they found the free wifi there.

"The environment is excellent and the wifi service is absolutely fabulous. It helped me get a new job (using Skype). This is exactly the type of information sharing and empowering services that all libraries should embrace. Well done."

We know that people use Skype on the APNK service to stay in touch with family and friends but this was the first time we had confirmation of someone using it for a job interview (and a successful interview, at that).

In a tight job market, people are more likely to seek employment in town and cities other than their own, so we'd be surprised if this is the first job interview to take place via the APNK.

And how does Jennifer Lawrence come into this? Well, apparently the 'Hunger Games' actress, who recenty won a Golden Globe for her role in 'Silver Linings Playbook' auditioned for the award-winning role via Skype.

Both Lawrence's and our customer's experience demonstrates what an advantage it is to have access to the Internet and the communication channels it offers. We look forward to hearing about more successful job seekers using our service in the future.
