NZAF Trust Board farewelling Trustees
« on: 04 Oct 11, 03:00:pm »
The New Zealand AIDS Foundation's Trust Board is about to farewell some of its Trustees, opening the door for new representatives on the governing body.

The NZAF Trust Board has seven Trustees, four of whom are elected by the membership of the NZAF, and three who are appointed by the Board.

Appointed Trustee Cherry Sonderer and elected Trustee Hamish Allardice are either stepping down or have reached the end of their terms. Elected Trustee Andrew Sweet has reached the end of his term and is standing for re-election.

Nominations for the elected positions have closed, however applications to be the appointed Trust Board member remain open until Friday, 14 October. The NZAF Trust Board is specifically seeking applications from people with accounting skills and financial management experience and/or a strong understanding of tikanga Māori.

All applicants are expected to have knowledge and experience of the communities most affected by HIV in New Zealand, specifically the gay and bisexual men’s communities and New Zealand-based African communities.

The NZAF Trust Board says people living with HIV who are willing to have their status known publicly are encouraged to apply, although disclosure is not essential.

It would particularly welcome applications from people based in Auckland, saying it's important that the Board has strong Auckland-based representation because many of those whom the NZAF strives to serve live in Auckland.

The Board meets approximately eight times each year, although some work is necessary from time to time between meetings. Appointed trustees have a two-year term with the option of being appointed for another two terms.
