Proud 'Gods and Monsters' headliners

Three main acts are being brought in from London, LA and Sydney for the Gods and Monsters themed Auckland Pride Festival closing party: Disco Smack, Victor Rodriguez and DJ Sveta. We find out more about them.

Disco Smack’s bio:

Having gained a loyal following on the London underground party scene – French/British DJ duo Andy Bradin and Josh Quinton AKA Disco Smack are notorious among party goers, delivering unforgettable sets and leaving an unforgivable impression.

Disco Smack revive the excitement of legendary clubs Studio 54, Taboo and Kinky Gerlinky –Bringing their individual, glamorous, eclectic and dramatic style to the hottest crowds around the globe; boasting an impressive mix of Disco House, Nu Disco and pop alongside contemporary’s best; ensuring an all-encompassing disco experience.

Previous parties and sets include MTV, Mario Testino, Riccardo Tisci and Kate Moss’ birthdays, Miley Cyrus, Mert&Marcus, New York Times, Vice and Selfridges among many others, confirming that Disco Smack are one of the most sort after, inspiring and in-demand acts of the moment.

Victor Rodriguez’ bio:

An influential DJ and promoter since before he was legally allowed to enter clubs. Victor Rodriguez has been a part of building the LA club scene the late 80s and early 90s through his association with such legendary clubs as White Chocolate, Plastic Passion, and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. In the late 90s he teamed up with Billy Erb in bringing the legendary NYC party "Beige" to Los Angeles. It was a huge success that lasted 11 years and set a new standard that is still trying to be duplicated to this day.

His private clients events have taken him all over the globe to DJ amazing parties for personalities such as Elton John, Anna Wintour and Madonna. He has also played for companies like, Paramount, Jaguar / Land Rover, MOCA, with residencies at The W Vieques and The Ace Palm Springs.

His versatility and ability to set mood with his wide collection and knowledge of music, has proved his ability to remain relevant in our ever-changing climate.

DJ Sveta’s bio:

From Sydney’s fiercest club nights through to the underground parties that line New York City’s sub-cultures and beyond, DJ Sveta has been socking it to audiences fresh from behind the decks for almost two decades

Pioneering many club nights, this DJ and producer is considered spinning royalty in her hometown of Sydney and has worked every veritable corner of the scene — both above ground and below — to master a sound that is quintessentially Sveta.

The company this unique talent keeps is testament to her work and has seen her play alongside the likes of Derrick Carter, Kim Ann Foxman, Peaches, Big Freedia, Calvin Harris, Larry Tee, Cazwell, Bart B More, Frankie Knuckles and Boy George to name a few. Regularly on demand, Sveta continues to work the stage with both legendary and emerging DJs who share her passion for breaking new ground.

On tour Sveta has supported artists including Peaches and Tommy Lee (Motley Crue).

As one of the music and production world’s most diverse and original talents, Sveta continues to spread her Midas touch with every set she spins and each musical production and remix this amazing creative puts her name to.

The Gods and Monsters themed Proud party is being held at Victoria Park Markets on Saturday 28 February, from 9pm. R18. Tickets are $60 here staff - 16th February 2015
