Your guide to Easter

We check out what’s happening this long weekend around the country at your favourite venues.



Ivy Bar / Wellingtons kinky candy dandy is hosting his very first event, make sure you head to Ivy Bar at 9pm for Timothy Taffy’s Drag Show extravaganza, Easter Hunnies.


Family bar / Sunday night at midnight join Family’s cast of sexy bunnies as they crack into Easter weekend with shows, giveaways and a hot cross buns competition, hosted by Miss Ribena.

Open Friday after midnight, Saturday from 9am till midnight and Sunday after midnight

Twist / Friday night at Twist check out Anita Wigl’it’s Shameful Stories at midnight with GoGo dancing competitions and prizes.

Christchurch Pride:

Friday night Agender extends an invitation to all LGBTI folks, friends and family, to join them at their ’T’ Party for a social evening of fun, chat and laughter. They will supply the music just BYO drinks and a plate for supper from 7pm.

Saturday at 5.30pm you can get yourself along to the Three Boys Brewery Tour and get a taste of some of New Zealand’s finest craft beer while checking out how it’s made. If you time things well you made even be able to head off on the Pride Bus Trip at 6.30pm, pick up at The Twisted Hop.

Easter weekend means liquor licensing prevents a Christchurch Pride party with drinking but who said a lack of alcohol will stop the party! Sunday is the Big Eat Out: Pride Dinner and Dance Party from 8pm.

Organiser says, “Come on down to Winnie’s for an awesome feed and gossip with your gaggle of gays from 8pm. Dinnertime entertainment will be provided by your favourite Queen’s. We are also super excited to be bringing you fresh from Auckland Pride hot DJ Jordan Eskra. He’ll be on the decks from 12am till the early hours and as of midnight, the liquor licensing laws goes back to normal so we can party hard!”

Lastly celebrate the end of a wonderful festival at the Official Chch Pride After Party at Winnie Bagoes City after the ‘The Big Eat Out’ from midnight onwards. Daily News staff - 24th March 2016
