The Public Records Act 2005 (section 32) requires the Chief Archivist to report annually to the Minister responsible for Archives New Zealand on the state of recordkeeping across government. The reports are then presented to Parliament.
Since the financial year 2010/11, the report is issued by the Chief Archivist and General Manager of Archives New Zealand under sections 32, 33 and 35 of the Public Records Act 2005. It provides not only an overview of the key issues and opportunities for government recordkeeping but also presents the results of the audits completed during the financial year.
(Previous Chief Archivist's Annual Reports on the State of Government Recordkeeping are published as part of the Archives New Zealand Annual Report for the year to which the relate.)
