Identity (ID) is an Auckland-based queer peer support group, for those aged 18 – 27.  We’ve have been meeting for over a decade.

Check out our Facebook group!

Who goes to it?

ID is open to anyone queer and trans* between the ages of 18 – 27. Members can be questioning or have just recently come out and others might be new to Auckland and are looking to make more friends. We’re here for people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, takataapui or fa’afafine, asexual, intersex, curious and questioning.

What happens there?

ID offers a way for queer and trans* young adults to be social and meet new people out of the clubbing scene. Meetings at ID revolve around yummy snacks, great conversations and watching movies or playing board games. It’s a place to come and chill out, ask questions, get advice and make friends.

Keep a track of the ID Facebook group for updates about what things are happening during the next meeting.

When and where we meet:

Fortnightly Sunday (except public holidays) 5pm – 7pm. We meet at the  RY drop-in centre (11 Edinburgh Street). Check out the RY calendar on the front page to find out when the next meeting is.

Coming along once doesn’t commit you to anything; some people come to every meeting and some come when they can – it doesn’t matter. You’re always welcome.

ID has facilitators that lead each meeting, run activities and make sure things are going smoothly. You can get in touch with them by emailing:

Like all RY groups, I.D. is drug, smoke and alcohol free.
