Out & About

Out & About

Out & About is RY’s South Auckland-based queer youth group, providing a safe and supportive  environment for queer and questioning youth. Out & About was established in December 2009 and has grown to a reasonable size group today.

Check out our Facebook group!

Who goes to it?

Anyone under the age of 27. Many are questioning their or have just recently come out or/and are looking to make more friends. We have a mixture of people from Botany, Pakuranga and Howick. We’re here for people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, takataapui or fa’afafine, asexual, intersex, curious and questioning.

What happens there?

Out & About provides a safe and supportive environment for you to make new friends, talk, ask questions or get advice. Sometimes there are activities and other times it’s just about chilling and getting to know the other group members.

When do we meet?

We meet fortnightly Tuesdays at Youthline Manukau, 145 St Georges street, Papatoetoe, 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Check out the RY calendar on the front page to find out when the next meeting is and the facebook page to find out what’s happening!

How to get there?

If you drive, there are some of car parks on Mahon Place (runs along side Youthline) . If you rely on public transport, most parts of South Auckland can get to Papatoetoe with the Howick & Eastern’s 575 and 568 buses for only 1 stage. There are many buses that conveniently go to Papatoetoe Town Centre from East and other parts of Auckland. Our location is just a short walk from the bus area/train station.

Out & About has facilitators that lead each meeting, run activities and make sure things are going smoothly. You can get in touch with them by emailing:

Like all RY groups, Out & About is drug, smoke and alcohol free.
