Volunteering at RY

What’s that saying?  Lotsa hands make light work?

Here are the key ways you can volunteer at RainbowYOUTH:

  • Represent RY at community events:
We’ll give you the run down about how to talk about RY, and send ya along with a staff member, board member or intern off to network! This is a great way to get in touch with the wider community, and it helps get RainbowYOUTH’s name and image out there! If you’re interested get in touch at
  • Facilitating our peer-support groups, or working with RY to set one up in your area:
If you think there’s an area that needs a peer-support group, and you’re keen to help us start one up, email us at to tell us the ‘what’, ‘when’, ‘where’ and ‘why’ and we can help you with the ‘how’! If you want to facilitate an existing group, start going along to the one that you like the sounds of. Also keep an eye out on our Volunteers Facebook group – we’ll post any and all open facilitator positions there.
  • Interning at RY:
Our interns look after our drop-in centre on weekdays. They welcome people, give them any resources they’re looking for and point them in the right direction for any needs they may have. Interns also answer the phone, keep the centre all spruced up and do odd admin jobs for staff. If this sounds like a bit of you, make sure you keep an eye out on our Volunteers Facebook group – we’ll post any and all calls for Interns there.
  • Join an RY Committee:
Committees are made up of members of our executive board, a staff member and any members of the public with relevant skills and interests. The committees are essentially working groups to brainstorm, action or work through sections of RainbowYOUTH’s strategy that have been assigned to them by the board. They’re a great way to contribute your specific expertise in an RY context. The different committees are: education committee, campaigns and fundraising committee, communication and engagement committee, culture committee, and policy committee. The meetings run once a month, usually on a weekday evening. If you’re interested in joining a committee, email for more info!

Also! The best way you can give to RY is by donating $ to help keep us going. 50c, $1, $5, $10, $15 – anything helps! You can set up an ongoing monthly donation of any amount here.
