RainbowYOUTH Education & Professional Development
Our home-grown and engaging in-class education workshops, as part of the Health and P.E. Curriculum, work to reduce incidences of bullying and improve wellbeing for students. Our professional development workshops aim to help teachers, social workers, youth workers and other professionals that work with LGBTIQ youth be inclusive in their practice and their service provision.

Gender, Sex & Sexuality 101
- Covers key concepts around gender, sex, sexuality.
- Delivered in classrooms by RY educators.
- Key audiences: intermediate, secondary & tertiary students.
- Meets several key NZ Curriculum and Health Curriculum objectives.
- 1 hour (or class period).
Bullying & Homophobia/Transphobia
- Looks at the impacts of bullying, the norms that create homophobia/transphobia/biphobia and tips to create a safer LGBTIQ environment.
- Key audiences: intermediate, secondary and tertiary students.
- Meets a wide range of key NZ Curriculum and Health Curriculum objectives.
- 1 hour (or class period).
Rainbow Cultural Competency Workshop
- RY educators run a workshop in your workplace on how to make your environment safe and welcoming for rainbow clients.
- Ideal audience: anyone who works with LGBTIQ young people – teachers, youth workers, social workers, medical professionals, community workers etc.
- 3 hours in-service workshop for a staff team or 1 hour one-on-one workshop.
In-School Training for Teachers
- Get the skills to use our Inside Out LGBTIQ education resource in your classroom.
- Ideal audience: health department, teachers and professionals.
- 3 hour session for a staff team or 1 hour one-on-one session.
Custom Workshop
We can customise a workshop around an issue related to LGBTIQ youth for your school, event or workplace.
