Who we can help

Help and assistance is available to New Zealand citizens outside New Zealand (whether or not they normally live in New Zealand).

If you also hold citizenship of another country (you have "dual citizenship"), you may not be entitled to assistance, for example if you have entered a country on your other passport, or if you are in the country of your other nationality.

If you’re unsure, contact the nearest New Zealand diplomatic post and they will confirm what assistance is available to you.
