Board Members

Ben Palmer
A chartered accountant with over 38 years' experience, Ben was previously a senior partner with the international accounting firm, Ernst & Young.  Ben currently works as a professional director and business consultant and is a member of the Institute of Directors.

Ben is currently deputy chair of SPCA Auckland Inc, and chairs Breast Care Ltd (trading as Mercy Breast Clinic).  He is also a trustee with the Melanesian Mission Trust Board and the Auckland War Memorial Museum.  Ben is a member of the External Reporting Advisory Board.

Fuimaono TuiasauA qualified lawyer, Fuimaono has a professional and governance background in a range of areas.  He is currently trustee of the NZ Youth Mentoring Trust, a board member of the Affinity Services Trust and the NZ Stroke Foundation Northern Region.  He is also a member of the New Zealand Pacific Business Council and the Auckland pacific Lawyers' Association.

Fuimaono worked as Senior Counsel prior to joining the Ministry of Justice and then the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs, where he focused on policy development, research and operational projects.  Fuimaono has maintained his interest in investigating and developing innovative services in the youth and mental health areas.

Ros CrightonRos has made a 20 year contribution to Lifeline as a counsellor, trainer, former Chair of Lifeline Christchurch (1995-2000) and member of the Lifeline New Zealand board (1997-2001).   Ros was the General Practitioners' representative for the Rural Canterbury Primary Health Organisation for six years, and has been active on school Trust Boards.

Ros has been involved in medical practice and management for a number of years, although is now stepping back to allow more time for governance and community issues.  Ros has a well-developed understanding of accreditation processes and improving services for patients.

Gary SturgessGary brings over 30 years' experience as an organisational ambassador, having previously held a number of GEO and GM roles.

He has a strong practical management background where his strengths are in strategic planning and implementation, organisational direction, leadership and people management.

Gary was previously Chair of Lifeline Taranaki.

Noeline WestleyNoeline has been a volunteer on the Lifeline 24/7 helpline since 2006 and  served on the Lifeline Auckland Board, initially as volunteer representative, from 2009-2013.

Noeline has a strong business background and is an active volunteer with the Cancer Society, where she has coordinated Daffodil Day in Papakura, Takanini and Drury for many years.  Noeline is also a director of Rotary Papakura.

Vicky MiersVicky has extensive experience in senior leadership positions in 'Not for Profit' organisations involved in health, social care and housing in both New Zealand and the UK.  She has lead management teams through major strategic organisational development and holds an in-depth knowledge of business, contractual and legal parameters, with due diligence to effective practice, systems and processes.

Vicky has been involved with Lifeline since 2012 initially as Trustee, and then Chair, of Lifeline Waikato.
