The multi award-winning singer/songwriter first stepped into the spotlight when he became a finalist on the eighth season of American Idol. His theatrical flair and glam-rock sensibilities saw him rise to international fame.
He is believed to have been the first openly-gay mainstream pop artist to launch a career on a major label in the US.
At the Auckland concert, he will perform songs from his third studio album The Original High.
