Family Bar's Queen's Birthday special

Auckland's gay nightclub Family Bar has special Australian guest Maxi Shields performing on Friday and Saturday nights this weekend, along with Felicia Thunderthighs, Wilma Balls-Drop and host Miss Ribena – with DJ James pumping music to the dancefloor. Family Downunder will be hosted by Bim Wilkinson and Aaron Von Phillippe with Wanda Lamour on the decks.
On Sunday night the club will have ‘hot hot hot' oiled male strippers.

Documentary Edge Festival

Gayby Baby is showing at Q Theatre in Auckland on Saturday at 2.45pm. But head along early to hear director Maya Newell speak, free, at The Vault at Q Theatre from 1pm-2pm. Read more about the flick, which tells the stories of kids raised by gay parents, here!
Also showing on Saturday is a short film by talented Auckland couple Andy Jalfon and Skot Barnett, Te Manu Ahi, which follows the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Atamira Dance Company as they collaborate to produce a stage spectacle. It's on at Q Theatre at 10.30am.
On Sunday, To Russia with Love is screening – it's about the build-up to the Sochi Olympics and features New Zealand's own Blake Skjellerup. Read more here.

New Zealand's mighty gay rugby team the Falcons are in Wellington this weekend. If you want to see them in action against the Wellington Bears, head to Boyd Wilson field in Kelburn on Sunday for a 9am kick-off.

Wellington's S&M's always hosts a right royal party weekend on Queen's Birthday. On Friday it has a retro night, and Saturday features the Beat King doing his thing.
On Sunday, the New Zealand Falcons after match function is on (and all are welcome!) from 9pm.
