Measuring our progress

EECA sets out its goals for the coming three years in an annual Statement of Intent, and reports on these each year through the the Annual Report. EECA also publishes an annual report on the funds used for electricity efficiency, appropriated through the Electricity Levy.

Longer term goals for EECA (and other relevant agencies) are set by the government in the New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (NZEECS). One of the key measures in the NZEECS of the longer term view of the progress New Zealand is making in energy efficiency and conservation is energy intensity, or the energy used per unit of gross domestic product (GDP) - as shown in the graph below.
