One of the most astonishing results of Alexander Turnbull’s interest in collecting everything to do with the sea and seafaring is this 1608 manuscript by Bautista Antoneli.

Still bound in its Spanish cover of limp vellum, it contains Antoneli’s descriptions and his 26 watercolour plans of forts and towns in the Americas.
