Ōhariu MP Peter Dunne is calling on the Wellington City Council to notify a consent application proposed for Thatcher Crescent, Crofton Downs.
The Council is proposing to permit the proposal to develop a 22-unit at 4-10 Thatcher Crescent on a non-notified consent basis.
Mr Dunne has been in discussion with local residents who would be affected by the development plan, and who are concerned it is being approved without any input from them.
“The residents are concerned that the proposal which provides for one parking space per unit and only five shared spaces for the whole complex will see additional parking on the street.
“Thatcher Crescent is a narrow street, designed on the basis of all housing have generous allowances for off-street parking.
“This proposed development threatens to destroy that balance,” he says.
Mr Dunne says he has written to the Mayor of Wellington supporting the residents’ concerns, and asking that the proposal be treated as a notifiable consent.
