The New Zealand Libraries' Catalogue works like an amalgamation of the online catalogues of libraries all over the country. It enables you to find out which New Zealand libraries hold a particular book, magazine, CD, and so on.

Search New Zealand Libraries' Catalogue

You can use all the normal searches on the New Zealand Libraries' Catalogue, such as author, title, keyword, and subject.

Once you've found an item you’re interested in, you can see all the libraries that hold a copy (for example, over 60 libraries hold a copy of Bill Bryson's A short history of nearly everything published by Doubleday London in 2003). You can click straight through from the listing on the New Zealand Libraries Catalogue to the record for that item on each libraries' own online catalogue to see if it's available for loan.

If an item you're interested in is not available in a library near you, you may be able to borrow it via interloan (a service whereby your library will borrow the item from another library for you to use). Visit your local library to find out if they offer the interloan service.
