Tapatoru is based in Wellington. Historically, this vibrant and close-knit city has become home to many of our Maori trans people and today we celebrate a community who feel somewhat established and embraced by its city.
On saying that, we understand that our Maori trans whanau have a different way of addressing that one component of their lives in comparison to other cultures. That is why Tapatoru will exist among the Maori trans community purely and not necessarily be seen specifically as a support group.

The Homophones - Wellington Gay Men's Chorus
The Wellington Gay Men's Chorus was established at the beginning of 2008 as a community choir open to all who wish to attend, and in November we were proud to present our first major concert, Around the World with Twenty Gays. Some of our members have choral or other musical experience and some do not; the ability to read music is not essential and the emphasis is on the joy of singing and participation in the group. We enjoy an eclectic range of music from Brahms to the Beatles, adding our own gender twist to the lyrics wherever necessary. There are no auditions.
We rehearse weekly on Thursday evenings from 6.30 - 8.30 pm.
