Caring better together

To care well for someone else, you need to look after yourself too.  This basic truth is at the heart of everything you'll find here!

Since 2008 Carers NZ has been working with ACC, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Social Development (with guidance from the Carers Alliance) to develop a national wellbeing and learning programme for carers.  This partnership is an outcome of the Government's Carers' Strategy and its first five year Action Plan.

On the left menu bar you'll find some of the first resources we developed for the programme.  More will follow during 2010, ranging from our new 'watch and learn' series for Family Care TV, to our practical bowel + bladder learning partnership with the NZ Continence Association.

We look forward to telling you more about Carers NZ wellbeing and learning events in your area.  These will be held from 2010 to 2013 around the country.

Meanwhile, we hope you find something of interest in our wellbeing and learning library ... and encourage you to visit Family Care Radio to listen to our five minute learning features: FCR
