Digital collections from New Zealand's cultural institutions

This image from the Alexander Turnbull Library is one of many available through Matapihi, a collaborative project that gathers digital collections from several cultural institutions, making them easy to find in one place.

Matapihi lets people search across over 175,000 pictures, objects, sounds, movies and texts. It is a virtual window onto the places, events and people of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Matapihi began as a pilot project of New Zealand’s National Digital Forum – museums, archives, art galleries, educational institutions, libraries and government departments working together to enhance access to New Zealand’s digital culture and heritage.
