Gender Quest

What is this group?

Gender Quest is a social support group for youth questioning their or those who are not sure but like to be in a supportive environment that affirms them regardless of how they identify. Gender Quest is drug, smoke and alcohol free.

When do we meet?

The meetings are every fourth Sunday of the month. 3pm till 5pm.

Where do we meet?

At the Rainbow Youth Centre, 281 Karangahape Rd, Auckland (beside Heroes Comics and the Newton Pharmacy, across the road from the French Bakehouse). Often after the GenderQuest meeting friends go for a coffee at Kamo, just along K' Road.

Facilitator

GenderQuest is run by Cam & Kestin, who identify as trans men (transgender female to male (F2M/FTM)).

Cam is quite knowledgeable about the history of transgender people in our society. Kestin is an avid queer anime fan and animator. They know heaps of useful websites, documentaries, videos and books which you may find useful.

What we mean when we say queer

A reclaimed word that represents sexuality and gender diversity. We use it to encompass lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, fa'afafine, and takataapui identities, as well as everyone in between and not sure. This word is used by many people, but it is also appreciated that it is not the preferred term for everybody.
