Tommy's View

"Two more sleeps"

Wednesday, 23 December 2009

This reminded me of all the years of excitement I had when i was a lil tommy.  I was sucked into the whole buzz for a lot longer than my friends, I wasn't keen to admit it as a pre teen, but now I am glad I got to live with the tension of catching santa out on christmas eve a bit longer than my other mates had.

I like remembering things about christmas that don't revolve around presents or purchases.  I also like to spend time with friends and family at this time of year.  Often in the queer community we have lots of stress around family and plenty of us are spending time with family in order to rebuild trust or we put alot of pressure on ourselves due to having not come out yet.

I would like to remind us all to relax, enjoy your time with family, be who you are don't let the stresses and expectations ruin your time with family.

If you are travelling do it safely, and if you are spending time at any of the myriad of queer events around this time of year, please have fun responsibly.

We will be reopening on Jan 5th 2010 and if you are feeling like you need a chat with someone over the break try OUTline NZ 0800 088 5463.
