Queer Youth

This part of the Rainbow Youth site is for young people who are, or think they may be, queer. It has information about coming out (telling people you're queer), about keeping safe, and about support organisations you can trust.

Coming Out

Coming out to friends, family, & the whole world, can be scary. This section has information about the coming out process, with stories from real people who've been through it.

Sexual identity

Are you questioning your sexual identity, and wondering why you're attracted to the people that you are? Get some info & links to support services.

Gender Identity

Questions about your gender (male? female? somewhere in between?) are just as important as questions about your sexuality. Get some info & links to support services.

Keeping Safe

It's important that young people feel safe as they explore their sexual and gender identities. Get advice on meeting people & mental health here.

Curious? Text support service

Text your questions to this free phone service.

What we mean when we say queer

A reclaimed word that represents sexuality and gender diversity. We use it to encompass lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, fa'afafine, and takataapui identities, as well as everyone in between and not sure. This word is used by many people, but it is also appreciated that it is not the preferred term for everybody.
