A jury deliberated for almost eleven hours on the charges against Andre Gilling, 18, but were unable to reach a unanimous decision on 6 December.

A new trial date will for Gilling will be set on 5 February, says Brian Johnson at the Palmerston North High Court. "I would expect a trial will be around the middle of next year," he tells

Co-accused man Ashley Arnopp, 20, who changed his plea to guilty mid-way through the trial, will appear for sentencing on a date to be advised around late January or early February 2008.
