Administration of Offshore Islands
The Minister of Local Government acts as the territorial authority for eight offshore islands that are not included in the boundaries of an established local authority.

Congratulatory Message Service
The Congratulatory Messages Service is a way of acknowledging people's special anniversaries. Administered by the Visits and Ceremonial Office of the Department of Internal Affairs, this service is available to all New Zealand residents.

Flag Hire Service
Subject to availability, we hire the flags of most countries of the world for indoor or outdoor events such as conferences, functions, and parades in New Zealand.

Harbourmaster Service at Lake Taupo
We provide Harbourmaster services from the Harbourmaster's Office at Taupo Harbour.

Local Government Commission
The Department of Internal Affairs provides administrative support to the Local Government Commission.

VIP Visits and Ceremonial Events
Our Visits and Ceremonial Office manages VIP visits including Guest of Government visits and VIP co-ordination, State and ceremonial occasions and commemorative events.
