Draft Evidence of Identity Standard

The draft Evidence of Identity (EOI) Standard has been developed as part of the all-of-Government Authentication Programme being led by the State Services Commission. This Standard is one of a set of Authentication Standards being developed, which provides a framework for consistent authentication of online identity by agencies.
*This document is in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. You need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. You can download a free version from the Adobe site.

The purpose of the EOI Standard is to provide good practice guidance for government agencies about the required process for initial establishment of an individual’s identity. This Standard builds upon the EOI Framework that was published in October 2004. When finalised the EOI Standard will supersede the EOI Framework.

Public feedback sought

The Authentication Programme is currently seeking feedback from the public on the draft EOI Standard and other Authentication Standards. Further information about public consultation for the Authentication Standards is available at the e-government website.
