About the new gaming machine licence conditions
New gaming machine licence conditions and guidelines
The Department issues two standard sets of licence conditions for gaming machine societies each year - Set A for clubs and Set B for societies operating machines on public premises. The licence conditions give effect to the fundraising objectives of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977 while mitigating the harm associated with the operation of gaming machines.
We plan this year to focus on a small number of remedial provisions. We recognise that the Responsible Gambling Bill is the vehicle for broader change.
A discussion document setting out the issues appears on this website. It canvases what the Department has identified as significant or relatively minor problems associated with the current licence conditions. Our suggested solutions have been incorporated as draft amendments to the Set A Conditions and Set B Conditions on this website. We invite you to consider the minor changes and to work with us on the more significant problems. This may involve the development of different conditions.
Submissions closed on 15 August 2002. The Department is now considering the submissions. Amended Licence Conditions will come into effect on 1 October 2002.
