Larry hails from Tauranga where he is no stranger to public life. Prior to becoming an MP, Larry served as councillor on the Tauranga District Council for the Te Papa ward.
Larry is married to Barbara. They have three adult children, 25, 24 and 20. Recently they began fostering and have a six year old girl living with them. Over the past 25 years, they worked in community service, primarily involved in youth related issues. This has included 15 years in the Philippines with Youth With a Mission and since returning to New Zealand in 1996, involvement with the International Reconciliation Coalition. Previous experience also includes employment with New Zealand Insurance 1972-73, 1976-78. Larry is past-president of the Early Pyes Pa Residents Association and also served on the Board of Trustees of Bethlehem College.
As an MP, Larry is particularly interested in developing policy in the areas of Local Government, Transport and Environment, Family & Social Services.
Larry enjoys a good night out at the rugby, or at home relaxing with his wife and children with a video.
