Rangitikei Forest & Bird Society

Aerial spraying, to combat and eliminate "old mans beard" in the Turikina valley of the Rangitikei reserve.

Makara Peak Mountain Bike Supporters Inc.

For the restoration of the riparian values of a degraded section of the Karori Stream adjacent to Makara Peak Mountain Bike Park.

Invasive Species Specialist Group

For the closer facilitation of co-operation between groups/individuals working towards conserving flora and fauna.

Peel Forest Outdoor Pursuits Centre

For the restoration of a 25ha site, adjacent to the Peel Forest Scenic Reserve, back to native bush. The regeneration programme will include fencing off the bush line, a pest/weed control programme, and the development of a native nursery.

Amount granted: $10,000.00


South Kaipara Landcare Inc.

For the fencing off of the freshwater lake, Lake Kuwakatai - a joint project between the adjoining (3) property owners and South Kaipara Landcare Inc.

Alexandra District Historical Association

For the conservation and restoration of seven historic art works of Alexandra and the local surrounding district.
    Amount granted: $1,000.00


    Whangarei Heads Landcare Forum

    For the cost of a local ecological consultant to assist in the co-ordination of the various Landcare groups in identifying ecologic and conservation areas for restoration.

    Papakarahi Landcare Trust

    For the construction of a 2 ha predator free kiwi enclosure for the rearing of young kiwi to a sufficient size for liberation.

    Awahou Bush Boardwalk

    For the re-establishment of a boardwalk by means of planting of indigenous vegetation on the Manawatu River and river loop reserve in Foxton.

    For part production costs for two new editions of two classic reference books by W. O. Oldman – "The Oldman Collection of Polynesian Artifacts" and "The Skilled Handiwork of the Maori."

      For the purchase of equipment to enable training and education programmes to be undertaken at the St Philip village centre.

        Ohu Butterfly Conservation Project

        For the cost of scientific, computer, office equipment and materials, communications equipment, education material, insect drying units and display cabinets for the tourist visitor project site.
