Gaming Activities That do not Need a Licence

Raffles with prizes of NZ$500 or less, and all sales promotions, are gaming activities that do not require a licence but are covered by the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977 and its subsequent amendments.

Find out here how to run a Sales Promotion Scheme or Raffle With Prizes of NZ$500 or less.

Instant games with total prizes of more than NZ$50 also need a licence. If you want more information, or want to run a lottery or sales promotion scheme from outside New Zealand, contact the Gaming Compliance Unit.
