Minister's Discretionary Fund

The Lottery Minister's Discretionary Fund accepts applications from individuals and groups for charitable projects that are not the responsibility of any of the Lottery distribution committees or subcommittees. These purposes include

  • overseas travel
  • volunteer fire fighting services
  • operating costs of peak ethnic organistions
  • animal welfare.
The fund is distributed by the Minister of Internal Affairs who is ex officio Presiding Member of the Lottery Grants Board.

Read the information sheet (149k) to help you decide whether you are eligible to apply for a grant.

If you are applying for a grant for overseas travel for educational/cultural exchanges, arts or sports projects, please complete the short version of the application form Educational/Cultural Exchanges, Arts and Sports Projects (321k). If the purpose of your project is volunteer fire fighting services, animal welfare, or overseas travel for events other than educational/cultural exchanges, arts or sports projects, please complete the long version of the application form Overseas Travel and Other (332k).
    Complete it using a black pen and return it by mail to: Lottery Grants Board, Department of Internal Affairs, P O Box 805, Wellington.
