Lottery Grants

The Community Development Group administers the Lottery Grants Board, which was set up by Parliament to benefit the New Zealand community by distributing the profits from state lotteries. The Grants Board does this through a system of distribution agencies:

and distribution committees which consider applications for grants in the following areas:
New Zealand Lottery Grants Board Logo
and the Social Sector committees:
(The final closing date for Lottery Community Facilities was June 30, 2002.
The final closing date for Lottery General was August 22, 2003.)

You now have the option of applying for the Social Sector grants (Lottery Welfare, Lottery Seniors and Lottery Youth), using a new online application system similar to that for COGS (the Community Organisation Grants Scheme). For details, you can download the Applying for Grants Online pamphlet in pdf format (212k). To view or print this document, you need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. You can download a free version from the Adobe site.

Note: The auditing requirements for grants of $25,000 and over have changed. See General Requirements.

The running of State lotteries and the distribution of prizes are the responsibility of the New Zealand Lotteries Commission.

For a record of grants made by the Lottery Grants Board for the year 2002-2003, see:

For information about grants made by the Lottery Grants Board for the year 2002-3, see these publications:
Groups that have received Lottery funding should see Promoting Your Project, 59k.

(The three documents above are in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. You need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. You can download a free version from the Adobe site. Hard copy versions are available from lotterygrants@dia.govt.nz.)
