Community Based Youth Development Fund

The Community Based Youth Development Fund (YDF) contributes to the New Zealand Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy. The Fund focuses on providing youth development opportunities as an approach to lessening risks of self-harm.

Seven youth development projects were piloted through the YDF from 1999-2002 to gauge their effectiveness in working with youth to reduce risk factors associated with self-harm.

The Fund now supports the following six projects:

  • Ola Mautinoa/Pacific World Incorporated, Papakura
  • Te Ha o te Whanau Trust, Opotiki
  • Rau o te Huia Trust, Rotorua
  • New Zealand AIDS Foundation/Rainbow Youth (joint national project)
  • Mental Health Foundation, Christchurch
  • Manukau Youth Resource Service, Manukau City
